SAFETY TIPS

SAFETY AND SECURITY

CRIME

The crime rate is low. Petty crime, such as pickpocketing and theft of unattended baggage, occurs. Unattended vehicles are occasional targets of thievery.

  • Ensure that your personal belongings, including your passport and other travel documents, are secure at all times
  • Avoid leaving luggage or valuables unattended in the vehicle
  • Use secure parking facilities

People walking between La Línea, Spain, and Gibraltar at night have been attacked and robbed.

SPIKED FOOD AND DRINKS

Never leave food or drinks unattended or in the care of strangers. Be wary of accepting snacks, beverages, gum or cigarettes from new acquaintances. These items may contain drugs that could put you at risk of sexual assault and robbery.

ROAD SAFETY

You may experience delays at the border when travelling between Gibraltar and Spain. Overland travel is completely cut off occasionally due to unexpected border closures.
