A unique blend of Chinese, Indian, French and American influences, fascinating colonial architectural treasures, lively markets, a highly hospitable and cultivated population, and one of the world’s best cuisine, incredibly diverse, delicate and subtle in flavors…

MEDICAL CARE

Vietnam doesn’t have an adequate health care infrastructure. Modern equipment and medical supplies are missing in the public sector. The Family Medical Clinic and the International SOS located in Hanoi offer satisfying routine medical care. But serious health issues require an air evacuation to another country.

In case of emergency in Vietnam, call 115. Be aware that the response time can be long and that the ambulance crew may not be well trained. It is sometimes better to bring the victim to the nearest hospital with a private car.

Numerous pharmacies are found in major cities in Vietnam. Medicines are mostly imported from France, India and China. Be careful as many counterfeit drugs are circulating in the country. It is always better to bring your own medical supplies.

SECURITY ABROAD

Petty crime, such as pickpocketing and purse snatching, occurs from time to time, particularly in larger cities. Instances of petty crime may increase before major public holidays, especially Tet (Lunar New Year). Pick-pocketing is common in:
